"This is to inform you that my wife and I have purchased a very nice new investment home in the Dallas area (the sale closed on August 31, 2007) and also to put in a good word for the ICG real estate broker who handled the transaction for us, Craig C. Whitcomb.
Craig spent an entire day showing us many houses spread throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, thus giving us a very good idea of what that region is like from a general as well as a real estate point of view. He was very well prepared and organized for our visit, with a personalized brochure that he had made specifically for us. He had also compiled tables with statistics (based on house sales information) on which areas and price ranges were better for house appreciation and which were better for cash flow. I also stressed to Craig the importance of purchasing a house that would rent quickly. The house is already rented, with good tenants who moved in just four weeks after the sale closed. There have been no major complications.
Finally, I would like to point out that Craig is a very nice, personable guy who is easy to work with, who knows the real estate investment business very well and who takes it very seriously. I have been in this business for several years, have several investment houses, and therefore feel that I am a good judge of real estate brokers.

"Well I just want you to know that you should put Craig Whitcomb at the top of your list. He's fantastic. After purchasing our first investment property through him, things went so smoothly that Sheila and I decided to purchase another home just down the street. We paid our $2,000 'earnest money' with the expectation that the house would be built in June. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, I had to notify Craig that we could not purchase the house at this time, expecting to forego the $2,000 earnest money. He said he'd see what he could do about getting a refund but made no guarantees. Well yesterday we were pleasantly surprised when we received a check from the builder for the total amount--$2,000--which we had basically written off. I fully realize that the unexpected return of this earnest money was solely due to his efforts and something he didn't have to do.
In addition to this, Craig has been fantastic to work with. He's been very professional, responsive, and extremely helpful via his 'hand holding' during this first-time process (for us) purchasing investment property. He made the experience a breeze, even after the initial builder backed out of the deal. In short he's been a delight to work with and we look forward to working with him again, hopefully in the very near future.
